Cortexica Partners with John Lewis
Cortexica partners with John Lewis to trial new visual search tool
Cortexica, the leading provider of visual search technology, is working with John Lewis to provide the technology that powers the new John Lewis ‘Find Similar’ tool on the retailer’s iPad app.
Cortexica’s image-recognition technology provides the visual search functionality for the new feature which allows customers to quickly locate fashion products with similar colours, shapes and patterns on the John Lewis iPad app.
A Find Similar button located above every product in these categories allows customers to search for other products that are similar in shape, colour, pattern and motif, providing image matching functionality for visually similar products as well as inspirational search. John Lewis is the first UK retailer to trial this tool in this way within its online fashion offer.
Cortexica’s technology mimics processes found in the human visual cortex to recognise content from digitally captured images.
Alastair Harvey, Global Sales and Client Services Director of Cortexica, said:
“We are delighted that John Lewis has selected Cortexica’s findSimilar™ technology to power one the first ever example of visual search functionality provided by a UK high street retailer.
“The incorporation of Cortexica’s visual search and image recognition capabilities into the John Lewis iPad app marks a significant step by the retail sector in the adoption of innovative technologies and tools to enhance the customer experience.
“We see visual search as being the prominent trend by which retail businesses and consumers interact with each other going forward.”
